How I got here!
Everything is in God’s hands! I just follow…
I believe ‘’knowledge belongs to humanity.’’ Sharing my knowledge, what I learned, and what I know is one way I can glorify God.
Before I knew Jesus, science was the only thing that I believed. I thought that anything humans do not understand is because we do not have enough knowledge.
Besides, I am a serious person and work very hard. When I was young, I always tried to pursue higher academic goals and achievement. As a result, my grades were always good. After I had graduated from college, I started my career as a software engineer and worked at a company that designs and develops industrial controllers. During that period, due to my great performance, my manager promoted me several times. Before I left that company, I was the youngest group leader in charge of developing several products.
It sounds good, doesn’t it? However, I did not feel very happy. Whenever I got a good grade or was promoted, I felt good, but that was it. The feeling of happiness was very short. Nevertheless, if I encountered a setback or failed, I would feel like a huge disappointment. Gradually, I became a person who only strove for higher achievement, but cared about nothing and no one else. Other than pushing higher goals, I did not know what the meaning of my life is.
I thought ‘’maybe after I complete one more challenging goal, things will be different.’’ I wanted to study computer science (my major in college was math) and get an advanced degree of it. Therefore, while I had a full-time job, I also worked very hard to prepare GRE and apply to graduate schools. I exerted all my strength to make my goals come true. But after I achieved it, I just felt: “That’s it!” Nothing really changes. I still felt life is empty.
Everything is under God’s sovereignty for our transformation. By that time, I met one guy at a school event. He shared the Gospel with me and gave a Bible to me. I still remember the first thing he asked me right after we first met was “what do you think what will you be after you die.” (I was thinking, “really? We just met!”)
I had read the Bible in English class in the past. I thought it was good literature and that is about it. However, this time, when I started reading it (it was the book of Mark), I could not stop reading until I finished the book of Mark. An amazing thing happened – I felt Jesus’ love fulfill my empty heart, and my soul is full of peace.
All of this happened several years ago. I am so thankful for God’s blessings. What can I do to show my thankfulness in response to God’s grace? One book, Every Good Endeavor, I read gave me good guidance. One of my favorite quotes from this book is
‘’Through our work we can touch God in a variety of ways…but if the call of the Christian is to participate in God’s ongoing creative process, the bedrock of our ministry has to be competency. We must use our talents in as competent a manner as possible…This album is a humble offering to Him. An attempt to say ‘’THANK YOU GOD’’ through our work, even as we do in our hears and with our tongues. May He help and strengthen all men in every good endeavor.’’
So, I started doing what I can do: I am a sponsor of Compassion International. I am also a monthly donor to a few nonprofit organizations such as Wikipedia. And started this website…
‘’Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.’’ – 1 Peter 1:3-9 NIV
